Bradford County Release Meaning
A release entry proves that one custody stay ended. It does not always mean the person walked into the community. Someone may leave Bradford County Jail after bond, release on recognizance, dismissal, time served, sentence completion, or another court order. The same jail exit may instead record a transfer to the Florida Department of Corrections, another county, a federal agency, or a facility acting on a hold. A deceased notation also ends a jail stay but is never a community release.
The custodian determines what to search next. Bradford County Sheriff's Office records cover the county jail. Florida Department of Corrections records cover state prisons and state supervision. The Bureau of Prisons covers federal custody, while ICE has a separate immigration locator. A court docket explains the order behind an exit but does not prove the exact time jail staff completed it. That is why a missing name on the live roster is only a clue.
- Discharge
- The completion of a custody or supervision term.
- Time served
- A sentence satisfied by time already spent in custody.
- Detainer
- A request or hold that may send a person to another authority.
- Expungement
- A court-controlled process that can restrict eligible records under Florida law.
Bradford County Release Paths
The release code, destination, and court order give an exit its meaning. Bond does not end the criminal case. Release on recognizance also leaves the case pending unless the docket shows another result. A dismissal or nolle prosequi concerns a charge, while a release timestamp records the jail's action. Time served can end confinement even when probation or another case remains.
| Exit type | What it means | Next source |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or recognizance | County custody ends under a court or bond process | BCSO release record and clerk docket |
| Time served | The custodial portion is satisfied | Docket and supervision search |
| Dismissal | The named charge is ended by court action | Bradford Clerk docket |
| FDC transfer | County booking ends while state custody begins | FDC Population Search |
| Agency or ICE transfer | Another authority may take custody | Release destination and receiving locator |
| Prison release | FDC confinement ends, possibly with supervision | FDC Release and Supervised Population searches |
A transfer row should be followed into the receiving system. Only the release destination, court action, and next custodian can distinguish a move between agencies from freedom in the community.
Bradford County Release Record Fields
Bradford SmartWEB released results were verified with a status and exact release timestamp beside booking, identity, charge, hold, bond, and photograph data. The public result does not visibly provide a dependable release reason. Bond amounts and charge rows cannot fill that gap. For the reason, authority, or receiving destination, ask BCSO for the booking-and-release record and compare it with the court file.
| Field | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Status: Released | BCSO recorded an end to that jail booking |
| Release date and time | The recorded county custody exit timestamp |
| Booking and MNI numbers | Identifiers that tie the result to jail records |
| Booking date and charges | The admission and charge context |
| Holds and bond | Conditions shown with the booking, not the final exit reason |
| Release type or destination | Request this when it is not visible online |
The online history window is not published. Months-old released results were found, but that does not guarantee a set archive period. Removal from SmartWEB does not show that the underlying record was destroyed, sealed, or expunged.
A useful request separates facts that the public screen confirms from facts that require a custodial record. The screen can confirm the displayed name, booking identifiers, recorded status, and timestamp. It cannot safely establish that bond was the final release basis, that every hold was cleared, or that the person entered the community. Asking for the release code and receiving destination prevents those fields from being guessed from nearby charge data.
Request Bradford County Release Records
The BCSO Records Unit accepts requests in person, by phone, or by mail. Ask for an existing booking-and-release record, not a custom investigation. Give the full name, approximate booking and release dates, and a booking or case number when known.
- Describe the booking and identify the person with neutral facts.
- Ask for admission and release date and time, release code or type, releasing authority, and receiving agency or destination.
- Request the nonexempt booking photograph only if needed.
- Ask for a cost estimate before copies are made.
- Compare the response with the clerk docket when the legal basis matters.

BCSO lists copies at $0.15 per page and certified documents at $1 plus duplication costs. Postage and a special-service charge may apply to extensive work, and prepayment can be required. No fixed fulfillment deadline or separate photo price is published. Ask for a good-faith estimate.
The official Bradford records-request instructions show the available channels, contact details, copying charges, and extensive-use policy.
This request path remains available when SmartWEB does not expose the release reason, receiving destination, or an older booking.
Florida Release Record Access
Florida Constitution article I, section 24 and chapter 119 create broad public access, subject to exemptions. The sound description is “presumptively accessible unless exempt.” Juvenile, protected victim, medical, active-investigation, security, sealed, and expunged material may be withheld or redacted. Sections 943.0585 and 943.059 provide technical court routes for eligible expunction or sealing. Neither an absent web result nor a court order should be described as automatically erasing every record held by every agency.
Section 119.07 requires access at reasonable times and under reasonable conditions, while allowing lawful duplication and extensive-use charges. The custodian must review the specific record for exemptions rather than promise that every requested jail field is public.
Bradford Release Record Retention
Online display and government retention are different. BCSO does not publish how long a released person remains searchable in SmartWEB. Testing found records that were months old, but that observation does not establish a fixed cutoff. When the public interface no longer returns a booking, ask the Records Unit for the historical booking-and-release record. A web result disappearing does not show that the agency destroyed the source record.
Bradford court records follow separate judicial schedules. Florida Rule of General Practice and Judicial Administration 2.430 places felony or misdemeanor cases with no information or indictment, dismissed charges, nolle prosequi, or a not-guilty result in a ten-year category. Other felony and misdemeanor case records fall in a 75-year category. Progress dockets and similar activity records are permanently recorded or retained.
Those periods do not promise that every document is remotely viewable. A clerk may have to handle a certified-copy request, while confidential, sealed, expunged, or restricted material may be unavailable to the public. The court file explains the legal action. BCSO or FDC still supplies the custody record and actual release event.
Bradford Release After First Appearance
BCSO says first appearance occurs daily around 10:00 a.m. Bond information may remain unavailable until the judge's written order reaches jail staff. A blank or stale bond field soon after booking does not prove that release was denied, approved, or completed. The written court order, jail processing, and final SmartWEB timestamp are separate steps.
Wait for the jail's recorded release event before treating a bond order as a completed Bradford County release.
The docket can establish what the judge ordered, while the jail record supplies the time that staff carried out the custody change. Other holds can still affect the destination.
Bradford County Custody Losses
BCSO's 2024 At-a-Glance report counted 1,183 inmate gains, 1,207 inmate losses, and an average daily population of 136. The agency's word “losses” matters. It can include transfers and other custody exits, so the figure is not a count of people released into the community. A separate FDC January 2026 census reported a different monthly population snapshot. The two measures cover different time frames and should not be merged.
The statistics describe jail activity and average use. They cannot identify a named release, its reason, or whether an exit went to another custodian.
Find Bradford County Released Inmates
Start with the facility, not the arrest location. Someone booked at Bradford County Jail belongs in SmartWEB and BCSO records. A person sentenced to an FDC prison belongs in state databases. Federal and immigration custody have their own locators.
- In Bradford SmartWEB, select Released Inmates Only and search by name or release-date range.
- Call Bradford County Jail at 904-966-6250 when the date, reason, or transfer destination is unclear.
- Check VINE for a reported custody event, but do not treat no result as proof.
- Read the Bradford Clerk docket for bond, dismissal, sentence, credit, or probation action.
- Search FDC Release Information when the person entered state prison.
- Use BOP or ICE only when the record shows federal or immigration custody.
- Request the durable BCSO release record if online paths remain incomplete.
A released person usually drops off the current roster. Search the released mode and the record held by the next custodian.
The official SmartWEB source is shown in this released-inmate search view.

Its date fields build manual searches; they are not fixed rolling feed links.
Florida Search for Bradford Releases
The FDC Inmate Release Information Search is built for people already released or scheduled for release from the state system. It updates nightly. It does not cover a person sentenced only to Bradford County Jail or county probation.
| Search field | How it works | Use |
|---|---|---|
| DC number | Six-character state identifier | Best match when known |
| Last and first name | Begins-with matching | Open the detail and verify identity |
| Alias | Optional alias search | Use after the committed name |
| Photo filter | Show or suppress photographs | Do not match on image alone |
A released detail can show Release Date, Date Out-Custody, incarceration history, aliases, sentence information, and a photograph. A future Current Release Date remains a forecast. Run the same DC number in Supervised Population to see whether physical release was followed by FDC supervision.
The FDC menu divides present incarceration, release history, field supervision, and absconder status into separate databases. That division is valuable in Bradford County because a state prison transfer can change the institution name without ending FDC custody. A past Release Date supported by Date Out-Custody is stronger evidence than a missing Population result. If the state record conflicts with urgent facts, the Bureau of Admission and Release handles release questions, while Central Records handles population and location data.
The official FDC release form shows the state fields and photo options used for a Bradford County release search.
The result must still be opened and read because the detail distinguishes a scheduled future date from a completed state-prison release.
Bradford Jail Release Date Ranges
Bradford does not publish a fixed one-click 24-hour or 72-hour feed. SmartWEB lets a user select Released Inmates Only and enter beginning and ending release dates. Results show exact timestamps, so a calendar range can be narrowed by reading each record. The sheriff does not publish the refresh cadence or web-retention cutoff. When a complete interval or formal record is needed, ask the Records Unit for the existing commitment/release list or named booking records.
A calendar-day range may be broader than a true elapsed-hour window that crosses midnight. Read each timestamp and use the jail or requested report when the exact interval matters.
Bradford Post-Release Supervision
Release from confinement and discharge from supervision are different events. FDC's Supervised Population Search covers state supervision and can show the assigned office and dates. The Starke Circuit 08 office serves Bradford County. County-only probation may require the court record because FDC expressly excludes county probation. An absconder is a supervised person who stopped making himself or herself available; that status is not proof of a new jail booking.
Use the FDC detail, the listed field office, and the governing court or Commission order as three levels of verification. A termination date is stronger evidence of discharge than simple absence from one search.
Bradford Release Alerts and Federal Records
BCSO directs victims to VINELink for release notice. A VINE alert reports a custody change from a participating source. It may represent a transfer, and it is not a permanent certified record. For federal custody, the BOP locator covers records from 1982 forward and may show a past release date, RELEASED, or Not in BOP Custody. ICE ODLS applies only when immigration detention is actually involved and may retain some released entries for a limited period. No current ICE detention contract was verified at Bradford County Jail.
The VINELink Florida selection and person search shows the notification channel used after a matching record is found.
A released or out-of-custody result means the participating agency reported a change. The jail, FDC, or receiving agency remains the durable source for its meaning.
Bradford Release or Current Custody
Each database answers a narrow question. Use the recorded status and history, then reconcile any transfer with the receiving system.
| Question | Correct source | Key caution |
|---|---|---|
| Still in Bradford jail? | SmartWEB Current Inmates | Absence is not release proof |
| Left Bradford jail? | Released Inmates mode and BCSO record | Exit may be a transfer |
| In or out of state prison? | FDC Population and Release searches | County roster does not cover FDC |
| On state supervision? | FDC Supervised Population | Release is not full discharge |
| Left federal custody? | BOP locator and federal docket | Other custody may follow |
When records disagree, prefer the office responsible for the disputed field. BCSO controls the county timestamp, FDC controls state custody history, and the clerk controls the court action.
Bradford Release Property Pickup
BCSO permits an inmate to authorize another person to retrieve personal property only from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. This is a property rule, not a public release schedule. Questions about a booking or release belong with the jail or Records Unit. BCSO's warrant page sends warrant-entry error reports to its IT line, but that channel should not be used to infer release facts.
Call before relying on the pickup window because authorization comes from the inmate. A property transaction does not establish release status, a release reason, or discharge from supervision.
Bradford Court Release Reasons
The Bradford Civitek portal permits anonymous public access. Circuit criminal covers felony matters, while county court covers misdemeanors and criminal traffic. Docket entries can preserve a bond order, dismissal, plea, sentence, jail credit, probation, violation, or termination long after a roster changes. The docket explains the legal act. The jail release record remains the source for physical exit time and destination.
The portal's anonymous entry is visible in the official court-search capture.

This path helps distinguish a court disposition from the later mechanical release event.
Bradford Release Transfer Maze
Bradford's correctional geography makes facility identity unusually important. Florida State Prison, FSP West Unit, Lawtey Correctional Institution, and the legacy New River site sit in or near a small Raiford and Lawtey area beside Union Correctional Institution. A person disappearing from one institution can simply have moved within FDC.
New River Correctional Institution is marked temporarily closed. Its former work camp became Union Work Camp under Union CI. The 2021 closure reassigned people rather than releasing them. Union CI is in neighboring Union County, even though it shares a Raiford address context. Search the statewide FDC history for Date Out-Custody and release status before calling any facility move a community discharge.
The official New River institution record supplies the closure and facility-history context.
The closure label is a facility status, so each former prisoner's FDC record must still separate reassignment from discharge.
The same distinction applies when Bradford County Jail houses someone for another agency. The county timestamp may mark delivery to that agency. Read the destination, then open the receiving system. A transfer to FDC should lead to Population Search; a later true prison discharge should appear in Release Information. This two-record trail is common in a county that contains both a local jail and several state institutions.
Bradford Release Facility Map
The county jail and six serving-area facilities use different release paths. Choose the correct page before searching.
- Bradford County Jail: BCSO SmartWEB and county release records.
- Florida State Prison: FDC release and supervision records.
- FSP West Unit: the same statewide FDC path.
- New River Correctional Institution: historical FDC records and closure context.
- Lawtey Correctional Institution: statewide FDC records.
- Union CI and Union Work Camp: FDC records for a neighboring county facility.
- Alachua Regional Juvenile Detention Center: confidential DJJ and authorized clerk channels.
Juvenile custody must remain outside the adult roster workflow. Bradford Clerk treats juvenile records as confidential, gives no case information by phone, and requires authorized people to appear with identification.
